Sunday project...

Hi everyone, I hope your weekend is going along well? Today I have a sweet little gift/treat box for you.

It is a little box that really nicely holds a chocolate bar or in this case a treat size bag of Skittles. It would help if I had a picture of the box open wouldn't it?? Well I do have one, just not finished, it is half way through the making process, keep you eyes peeled in the instructions!!

It is really easy to make and can be for any occasion, I hope you like it and perhaps have a go at making one yourself.

You will need to cut a piece of card stock 6.5"x 5" and score in the following way.

So this shows the basic layout and where to cut.

Once you have your basic box shape laying flat you can stamp it or perhaps layer some patterned paper, the choice is yours. I used Cherry Cobbler card stock and used Versamark ink and stamped the same flower as my embellishment on the front, giving the lovely watermark effect.

You will want to then construct your basic box ready to create the belly band. Here you can see how the treats fit inside the box and how the flap will open and close. The belly band in the next step is what will keep it closed.

You will then need to cut a belly band in the colour your want, I used the same Cherry Cobbler but a contrasting colour would be just as effective. This will be 0.5" wide and cut it about 8" long, as you will then cut it down to size. The best way to do this is to wrap it around the box folding and measuring as you go. This way you can get it accurate sliding it on and off and once you are happy it can then be stuck and cut off.
Also stamp and create the embellishment for the front. Here I have used the Pop of Petals stamp set and punch. The colours are Cherry Cobbler and Shaded Spruce.

Once you are happy with everything fitting you can put the final touches together and give your gift away...or keep it for yourself of course!!!
I layered up the punched out flowers and 'leaves' to give the flower and put some gold trim underneath. I think it has a Christmas look without it being too obvious, what do you think?

I hope you like this little project and give it a go yourself.

In the meantime enjoy the rest of your weekend and thank you for stopping by today. See you again soon.
