Hi folks. It's Sunday and I hope you are having a nice weekend?
Today I have a little bit of information for you regarding rubber stamps and those from Stampin' Up!
I realise there are lots of makes out there in the creative world but I think generally they are all similar with the exception (in my opinion) of the photopolymer stamps which I will explain.
So this is the information given in the catalogue about the types of stamps and I will hopefully expand a little more for you.
So the stamp we all know and see most often are the rubber wood mounted stamps.
These have the layer of (in this case) red rubber and then a foam layer to help cushion and give a good impression when stamped. These are permanently attached to the wood and so can take up a lot more space, but are sturdy and easy to use.
Then there are the 'clear mount' which is what Stampin UP all call their rubber stamps that are the same two layers as the wood mount but are not attached to wood, but have a clingy label that...clings...to a acrylic clear block.
These create that same lovely image but don't have the bulky wooden block so storage space needed is less. Stampin' Up! sell their in DVD style cases, which are great space savers but visually practical.
Then the newest stamp style is photopolymer. This is the name Stampin' UP! have but they are known as acrylic too, but they can be very different.
From experience I find the photopolymer much much better quality. I still use lots of clear acrylic stamps, but the Stampin' Up! 'recipe' I have found to be great.
As well as the space saving benefits again, they also have the brilliant quality of being clear, so you can see exactly where and what you are stamping.
This image I came across on the world wide web shows their versatility so well...they can be mixed and matched on the same block to stamp in one go...they can be bent when clinging to the block to give curves and shapes(dependant on size of course) and you can use the two-step technique really much easier.
Now as I said there are other makes out there, and I am sure you have lots of them yourself. There are differences with the quality of the actual stamp itself, the way they stamp, the way they cling or not cling to the blocks... they are all different.
It all comes down to personal choice, cost, space for storage etc... but I hope this may help in the way of some basic information about types of stamps out there.
If you have never tried stamping or think you are rubbish at it, please come along to a class and I can give you some hints and tips and I promise you will see that you can stamp and you can stamp amazing...I guarantee it!!!!
Anyway, thank you for stopping by and I hope to see you again very soon...
